Course Description:
Designed for nurse, nurse practitioner and physician assistant injectors, this course provides participants a review of the treatment rationale and clinical applications for neuromodulators and the FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) soft tissue fillers. The importance of a thorough aesthetic analysis will be reviewed in detail with a focus on the Danger Zones when injecting dermal fillers. Being prepared for vascular events is reviewed including items that everyone should have on hand in the “Injectable Crash Cart”. In addition, live patient injections with neuromodulators and HA fillers will be demonstrated. Patient safety is discussed throughout the course with an emphasis on avoiding complications.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify anatomical facial structures, such as nerves and blood vessels, that must be avoided when injecting dermal fillers to minimize complications in:
- Upper face (brow, glabellar and forehead)
- Temporal region
- Infraorbital region
- Nasolabial folds and perioral area
- Nose
- Describe safer injection techniques by demonstrating an understanding of the various facial danger zones.
- Compare and contrast the differences among the HA fillers as it relates to placement in the face for safe and optimal outcomes.
- Describe the actions that can lead to adverse events when injecting neuromodulators and/or HA fillers and categorize subsequent management.
