Desired outcomes:
- Demonstrate Preservation techniques I – IV via both the open and closed approaches including surface preservation progressing to Push Down and Let down to correct asymmetry
- Ligament preservation will be demonstrated including Pitanguy’s, scroll vertical and longitudinal and interdomal ligaments.
- Practice placement of Septal Extension Grafts including a “Taco” graft
- Utilize lower lateral steal techniques for tip shaping including cephalic dome creation sutures and cranial tip sutures
- Practice subperchondrial and sub-SMAS dissection techniques
- Practice with piezoelectric tools for osteotomies & dorsal hump reduction
- Perform an open rhinoplasty to set the ideal profile and sculpture the tip
- Perform a wide variety of rhinoplasty maneuvers in a logical sequence like a “real-life” rhinoplasty
- Demonstrate various incisions, exposure methods, extramucosal tunnels, dorsal reduction, septal harvest, graft preparation, spreader grafts, spreader flaps (auto-spreader grafts), osteotomies, tip sutures, all strut grafts, columella-septal rotation sutures, tongue in groove sutures, tip projection, open tip grafts, alar contour grafts, and alar base excision
- Demonstrate and apply popular grafting techniques using coffee can covers or harvested cadaver septal cartilage
Once you register a complete rhinoplasty cadaver dissection video showing all the steps of open / closed rhinoplasty plus a detailed syllabus will be emailed to you to review ahead of the lab.
A general set of rhinoplasty instruments are provided. If you have your own favorite rhinoplasty instruments you might have a better experience if you bring your own favorites. Put them in your checked luggage.
